CODE OF CONDUCT
The following guidelines have been devised to ensure that everyone involved with the Club appreciates their role and responsibilities, and understands the behaviour that the Club expects of its members. The Club wants our players, coaches, officials and supporters to enjoy the sport in a safe and positive environment. Our aim is for everyone in the Club to receive fair and equal treatment regardless of their gender, ethnicity, religious or political beliefs, social background, sexual orientation, age and ability.
Old Street's Code of Conduct is based around the core values of Rugby Union.
TEAMWORK
We welcome all new members, and aim to make the Club as inclusive as possible.
We play and act selflessly: we work for the team and the Club, both on and off the field.
RESPECT
We hold our sport, its values and traditions in high esteem. We earn the respect of others by the way we behave.
We respect the match officials and accept their decisions, without question. We recognise that they are volunteers, devoting considerable time to facilitate the game. Without them, there is no game.
We respect opposition players and supporters. They are battling the same challenges as us.
SUPPORT
We hold our team mates, fellow club members, volunteers and employees in the highest regard. We support them wholeheratedly on and off the pitch, physically and mentally.
DISCIPLINE
Discipline is an integral part of the game, both on and off the field, and is reflected through adherence to the Laws and the sport’s core values.
We play with discipline and control our emotions, both on and off the pitch. Acts of violence and physical and verbal abuse will not be tolerated.
We take responsibility for our own performance and behaviour.
All allegations of misconduct are dealt with by the Club’s Disciplinary Committee at first instance which follows the RFU disciplinary procedures where appropriate.
SPORTSMANSHIP
Integrity is central to the fabric of the game and is generated through honesty and fair play.
We uphold the rugby tradition of camaraderie with team mates and opposition.
We recognise both endeavour and achievement, by team mates and the opposition.
We play to win, but not at all costs: we win with dignity and lose with grace.
ENJOYMENT
We value the well being of all of it’s members, and have a number of mentors who members can talk to in a confidential and non-judgemental way if they are experiencing issues.
Enjoyment is the reason we play, coach, support and are involved in the game. Try to look like you're enjoying it!
